The gateway city to the Italian Riviera is Genoa (Genova in Italian).  It is home to a large, international airport with flights to many European cities.

Alternatively, visitors can fly to the Nice Cote d'Azur Airport in France and catch a train into Italy.  An alternate route to the Riviera is to fly to the Pisa Airport and catch a train from there.
