Manarola is one of the five towns that hikers pass through along the Cinque Terre Trail.   The walking trail from Manarola north to Corniglia, Vernazza and Monterosso al Mare is relatively challenging while the trail south to Riomaggiore is flatter and is suitable for visitors of all ages and abilities.

The trail between and Riomaggiore is called the Via dell'Amore ("Love's Trail").  Keep an eye open for the padlocks that lovers attach to the mesh fences along the trail.  People often leave behind messages of love and happiness with their padlocks.
