Corniglia is the middle of five towns are located along the Cinque Terre trail on Italy's west coast.  The route southeast to Riomaggiore is a relatively flat but pleasant hike for people of all ages and abilities.  The trail north to Vernazza and Monterosso al Mare, however, is steeper and more challenging.
